What are our legal responsibilities?

 Our legal responsibilities are to:

  • To maintain a list of individuals barred from engaging in regulated activity with children;
  • To maintain a list of individuals barred from engaging in regulated activity with vulnerable adults;
  • To maintain both barred lists; and
  • To reach decisions as to whether to remove an individual from a barred list.

Accountability

As a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) we have certain statutory responsibilities and our effectiveness and efficiency are closely scrutinised by government and stakeholders. For example, we will report annually to Parliament and all our operations – including decisions on barring – must be seen to be fair, open and transparent.
